The Walkmen

Released around this time last year, this has come up repeatedly as one of the best albums of 2008; an opinion shared by many indie rock aficionados. Instrumentals drenched in echo and expressive vocals come together to give this album a very unique sound.

Now for yet another genre; punk. These songs comes from Death's 1973 album ...For The Whole World To See that was reissued this year. These are two great punk songs from a band that likely never got the credit they deserved.

You might have noticed that these are links to other sites, and not direct downloads. The reason for this is issues that came up with copyrights and my use of a free 3rd-party file server. They're still freely available for download online, but to make things easier (and free) for myself, I'll just give you the link to other blogs that host the files. Animal Collective

Some more synth-filled indie songs that I hope you'll like. Animal Collective can be classified as noise pop, but apparently they are very experimental, and thus sound little like anyone else. These are two song from their most recent album.

"Discover" A Good Song

Something a bit closer to pop music for this post, full of synth and break beats, it's a interesting song. Discovery is the side project of the keyboardist from Vampire Weekend and lead singer from Ra Ra Riot; two bands that I really enjoy hearing, so I hope you like this one as much as I do.

Reformat

Since my last post (many, many months ago) I've gotten busier both in my work and in my play. Since writing a quality post about myself takes a decent amount of time and effort, I can no longer continue this blog in the same spirit with which I began it. I have therefore decided (after a helpful suggestion from a friend) to use this blog as a simple way to share my love of new music with my friends. So whenever I find a really great track that I want you all to hear, you'll know it because I'll have it posted here. Thanks for listening!

A nice surprise when I was to the filehosting site to upload this track, I found the Beck cover song I recorded and posted a while back has been downloaded 178 times! Now I'm really wondering who's heard it.
